The Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is widely considered one of the finest luxury resorts in the Caribbean and one of the flagship properties in the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Reserve collection. Originally developed by Laurance Rockefeller in the 1950s, the resort sits on 50 acres of pristine beachfront while preserving its lush natural surroundings and understated elegance.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at this property a few times in different room categories.

  • Oceanfront accommodations – Every room is just steps from the beach, many featuring outdoor rain showers, plunge pools, and expansive terraces.

  • Embajador service – Every guest is assigned a personal concierge (“Embajador”) who handles dining reservations, activities, unpacking assistance, and personalized requests.

  • Spa Botánico – One of the Caribbean’s premier spas, set within a tropical garden with open-air treatment pavilions inspired by Puerto Rico’s natural beauty.

Dining

  • COA – Signature fine dining featuring locally inspired cuisine cooked over a custom wood-burning grill.

  • Positivo Sand Bar – Casual beachfront Mediterranean and Latin flavors.

  • Encanto Beach Club – Relaxed beachside dining.

  • La Cocina Gourmet – Coffee, pastries, gelato, gourmet snacks, and cooking experiences.

Activities

* Two championship oceanfront TPC golf courses.

* Miles of secluded beaches.

* Paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, and surfing.

* Rockefeller Nature Trail for biking and walking.

* Tennis and pickleball.

* Water park and family activities.

* Private wellness experiences and guided nature excursions.
